Submissions and Contests
We are excited to announce that submissions are now open for our first 10 Minute Play Festival as well as submissions for our inaugural production to be presented at the Lingit Arts Center.
Submissions for the 10 Minute Play Festival will be open until October 31st. The 10 Minute Play Festival will not have a theme, but future festivals will. We want to see your best and brightest work. Please make sure you include a cover page on your submission with the play's title, author name, and an email address. The play should be ten pages or less with page numbers on every page but the cover page. Please no scripts with more than six characters and minimal technical requirements.
Each submission for the 10 Minute Play Festival is $10, but writers may enter as many times as they like provided each entry is accompanied by the $10 submission fee. This fee helps cover the cost of readers as well as staffing for the festival.
Through the generosity of Bob and Jeannette Hendrix, we are able to offer $3000 to the first place winner of the festival, $1500 to the second place winner, and $1000 to the third place winner. These winners will be determined by a distinguished panel of judges made up of local writers and artists. Twelve plays will be chosen for the festival and selected playwrights will be notified by November 3rd. The festival will be performed the first week in December.
Any playwrights wishing to submit a full-length play for consideration to be performed as part of our very first season should complete the full length submission form. All full-length plays will be performed at the KenKamKen Auditorium or at the Lingit Arts Center. The deadline for the full length submissions will be December 1st. The show will be performed the first two weekends in February. Please limit cast size to ten actors or less. Doubling is perfectly fine. Minimal technical aspects, please.
The playwright of the play chosen will be paid royalties for the production, and will be offered the opportunity to fly out to Alaska where airfare and hotel will be provided. They will also have the chance to be part of a talkback after the show as part of a special grant. The playwright will be notified by December 10th if they are chosen. Plays should be no longer than 120 pages and no less than 80 pages. BST will provide the director, actors, and crew.
